The sushi tasted very fresh and service was great. My bf said the crawfish roll was amazing!
Just make sure to check if they are open by going on their FB page... I also took note of the sign in the dining room that Janet is the only chef in the kitchen so please be patient. Luckily neither of these things was an issue on the day that I went.
I'd much rather support a small business and deal with some minor inconveniences so I will definitely be going back!
Ate there once a couple of years ago. I'm not a huge sushi fan but my family is. I was told by my sushi lovers that the product was pretty good.
My latest review is kind of like, if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
Hours are sketchy. You never know for sure when it's going to be open. It's not worth driving 20 minutes only to arrive to locked doors. I understand being closed during a snow storm but it wasn't snowing yesterday and the roads were clear. All sites show the opening is at 4 pm.
If this place were run like a "real" business it may garner a good review by me, but it isn't worthy of a star when it's not open when it's supposed to be, especially after investing the time to drive there.
I suppose we will continue to drive a few minutes further to Asheville and visit Green Tea. Family says the sushi is great and at least you know their hours are dependable.
After moving from Maine to western North Carolina, I wasn't expecting much from a place 5 hours from the ocean. I couldn't have been more wrong, easily better than any sushi I have had from far more expensive establishments. The waitress was very pleasant and the owner was the chef! I will say you need to plan your trip here accordingly as they do not sacrifice quality for quantity, I'm not talking serving sizes, which are generous, I mean each item is made one at a time and made without cutting corners (which is evident in the taste and presentation) If you go at peak times be prepared to sit for a few minutes while your meal is made :) this isn't so bad as the seats are comfy and the atmosphere is nice.
This is my favorite restaurant in all of western North Carolina. I am so impressed with the consistent high quality of the fish. You can just taste the love that is put into the food! Highly recommend it!
The pulled crab stick salad is amazing. Never had anything like it. Also the Japanese gyoza pan seared dumplings are a must try!
Hours online stated open til 10pm, so we showed up at 9:05pm, but actual hours are open until 9:30pm. The owner and chef still welcomed us in, told us not to rush and sat down with us to give us suggestions on the menu. The food was amazing! The chef takes great pride in her work and you can taste it!
